The publication date for The Modern World in the UK is now 17th May. This is the last word I've had from Gollancz and I don't expect it to change again. So I'm afraid that everyone waiting will have to wait a little longer. But I trust you'll find it's worth it.
Please note that the title in the US is Dangerous Offspring. This is the same book as the The Modern World, so don't rush out and buy both - unless you really want to, of course!

I'll probably regret asking this (I have visions of "The Golden Compass" / "Northern Lights" scenario), but why the title change for the U.S.?
Apparently 'The Modern World' didn't sound 'fantasy' enough for the US. This was actually my aim, but I think their marketing is very conservative and they have a certain idea of our readership -- the magic swords crowd, presumably. The audience should actually be extended to other groups but publishers generally seem to be a bit timid about them.
Hey, just like to say have read The Modern World and really enjoyed it! All three of your books have been fantastic and I can't wait (Hoping) for the next one. Keep it up and I'll keep buying!
