The video of my interview with John Berlyne at the BSFA meeting in August is now available.
In this thirteen minute clip we talk about my latest Castle book, The Modern World. I tell John about how the apartheid imposed on my school in Bradford shaped my ideas about the Fourlands and how the Circle grew from my own observations of the lack of a meritocracy in this world.
My thanks to John for arranging this and to Russell Wilcox for filming.
Steph, hope everything is going well.
When is book 4????
No pressure!!!
Best,
Larry
Wow! This is a really quite wonderful interview on one of today's top tier fantasists. I'll be watching this one a few more times. Highly recommended!
Thanks for making this available, Steph.

Hello, Larry - I don't have a date for publication of Castle 4 yet. I'll finish it next year but I can't tell when it will come out. Everything's fine with me - hope you're good too.
Jonathan, enthusiasm will get you everywhere! I also did a radio interview but I haven't pointed it out on this site because the sound quality was poor (I was on the *phone* to Australia!) and it is fairly badly edited - the interviewer mainly wanted me to ramble on about archaeology for some reason. But if you're interested the link is here.
Hi Steph,
This was a great interview. I particularly liked the way you talked about endings and expectations, and how you're just going to write your own story. I have read the first two in the Castle series back to back and am eager for the third - and fourth, of course!
These books are so wonderful and original, and I've not felt so absorbed in a 'parallel' world since reading Stephen Donaldson's Land series. I take my hat off to you!
James, thanks. That Bosch-y picture heading your blog is brilliant, by the way - whatever the hell it is, it's definitely galloped through from the Shift.
Let me know if you can't find a copy of The Modern World, OK? The publisher has sold out and amazon.co.uk has marked it as 'not in stock', wonderfully just in time for Christmas, but I know there are still copies in bookshops.
